Company Overview

We are seeking a remote part-time Shopify Developer to assist with ongoing enhancements and maintenance of our e-commerce website P3Carbon. This role requires a commitment of 5-10 hours per week, with the flexibility to scale hours according to project needs.

Key Activities

    Troubleshoot and resolve issues within the Shopify platform.
    Modify and improve the website theme and user interface.
    Evaluate current apps and integrate new apps to optimize site performance.
    Occasionally add or modify custom CSS code to enhance site aesthetics without compromising functionality.

Installed Apps:

    Matrixify – used to easily export / import data
    Acerill Form Builder – going to be used to replace current forms as well as create new forms
    Year Make Model Search – allows customers to find products that fit their motorcycle
    Order Printer Pro – enables customization of customer invoices
    Store Locator – customers can find participating dealers that carry our products
    Variant Description – used in the product descriptions
    Globo Mega Menu – used for menus
    Rewind Backups – data backup
    Weglot – provides a Japanese version of the site
    ShipStation – occasionally used to create shipping label etc.
    Geolocation – not sure why installed.
    Wholesale Pricing Discount – provides the ability for our wholesalers to log in and get preferential pricing. Impedes regularly updates of theme because custom code has to be added to theme files. Need to find a replacement.
    Report Pundit – reporting tool. Not very good. Eventually will need help architecting and implementing a cloud-based integrated platform to export Shopify data, monitor changes, and provide reporting tools.

Required Technical Skills

Shopify Platform Expertise: Comprehensive understanding of Shopify's admin interface and Liquid templating language.

Web Development: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with familiarity in Shopify's APIs.

Responsive Design: Expertise in creating and modifying themes for optimal performance across devices.

CSS Customization: Skilled in enhancing visual design through custom CSS.

App Integration and Development: Proven ability in app evaluation, integration, and potential custom app development.

Technical SEO Skills

Mobile Optimization: Ensure that the website is optimized for mobile devices, providing a seamless experience for users across all platforms.

Speed Optimization: Improve website loading speed by optimizing images, leveraging browser caching, and minimizing the use of heavy scripts and plugins.

Robots.txt Configuration: Install and correctly configure a robots.txt file to manage and control the web crawling and indexing behavior of search engines on the site.

Link Maintenance: Regularly check and fix broken links and redirect errors to enhance site reliability and user experience.

Website Architecture: Optimize the structure of the website to ensure easy navigation for users, which also contributes to better indexing and ranking by search engines.

Code Efficiency: Maintain a clean and efficient code structure, ensuring that the site’s backend is as streamlined as possible, which aids in faster loading times and a smoother user interface.

Security Updates: Implement necessary security patches and updates to protect the website and its users from vulnerabilities.

Problem-Solving: Quick identification and resolution of technical problems.

Optimization: Skills in site speed enhancement and security management.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills and effective time management.

Flexibility to work additional hours during key project phases or as needed.
